Finding Another Way Through Conflict

Legal disputes don't always have to involve a dramatic courtroom showdown. Increasingly, people are turning to mediation and other alternative methods to resolve conflicts. At Gruccio, Pepper, De Santo & Ruth P.A., we provide these services in appropriate cases. Not every case is suitable for arbitration or mediation, but for those that are, alternative dispute resolution can give the parties more control over the outcome of a dispute, often at a lower financial and emotional cost than litigation.

What Is Mediation?

Mediation is a process in which a trained mediator who does not represent either side enables dispute resolution in a non-adversarial manner. The mediator helps the parties reach a mutually acceptable agreement. The process is often quicker, less expensive and less destructive to relationships than litigation or arbitration. Several of our attorneys are court-qualified mediators, including one court-qualified family mediator.

Our office has two certified civil mediators and a third certified family law mediator. We can act as neutral third parties when conducting mediation. In other cases, we represent clients in mediation.

What Is Arbitration?

Arbitration is a process in which the parties agree to use a private person or company instead of a court to resolve their dispute. Like mediation, the process of arbitration is often quicker and more affordable than trying a case in court. The arbitrator's award can quickly and easily be converted into a binding court judgment.
