Crash causes 2 fatalities and 6 to suffer from personal injury

New Jersey residents may have heard about the recent fiery crash on Route 440. The accident was not caused by a single, large crash but a series of small accidents that compounded upon one another. These crashes ultimately resulted in the personal injury of multiple individuals, as well as more than one death.

While the exact cause of the accident is unknown, authorities have been able to piece together the series of events which caused the injuries and fatalities. The accident began with only two vehicles, but by the time police arrived, there were six in total. Two people were killed in the crash, and six more were injured.

Authorities speculate that the first crash occurred around 6:00 AM on Dec. 22. The two cars involved were stopped in the far left southbound lane of Route 440 when another car crashed into one of the stopped vehicles. A fourth vehicle came upon the accident and was able to stop, but a fifth car crashed into the fourth vehicle, causing it to crash into the third car. Finally, a sixth vehicle, a pickup truck, crashed into the fifth car, causing them both to catch fire.

What began as a small two-vehicle accident expanded into a large, violent, multiple-vehicle crash that many may be unable to forget for a long time. New Jersey victims of crashes like this one that result in personal injury or death could benefit greatly from consulting with an attorney. Victims or their families may discover that they are entitled to compensation for medical costs, property damages or funeral costs. While the compensation may not provide complete closure, it may help to ease financial burdens and allow families and victims to grieve and heal with less stress.
